Dr. Robin B. Trayler - Technical Director
- Dr. Trayler is the Technical Director of the SIELO. His research interests include paleontology, paleoclimatology, geochronology, and paleoecology.
Dr. Sora L. Kim - Faculty Director
- Dr. Kim is the Faculty Director of the SIELO and an associate professor at UC Merced. Her research interests include paleoecology, climate change, environmental reconstruction, and Stable Isotope Biogeochemisty.

Founder
Dr. Marilyn Fogel established the Stable Isotope Laboratory at UC Merced in 2013. Already, a giant of the field, she focused on creating an interdisciplinary research environment. Her research was centered around stable isotope biogeochemistry, ecology, astrobiology, and paleoclimate. She recognized with numerous awards throughout her career, including election to the National Academy of Sciences in 2019. Marilyn was also a passionate advocate for women and those with disabilities in the sciences and society. You can read about her life, achievements, and struggles on her blog.
